So I got back from Singapore 2 days ago and I can quite safely say that I’ve recovered. Yay! I took a pathetic amount of photos thanks to the mixture of my laziness and busy-ness, so these photos you see her are really all I took of Singapore.

day

The performance was held at the Esplanade’s outdoor theatre and that’s all of us with the crew (above) setting up for our sound check on the first day. Rehearsals and sound checks were held on a daily basis and were very weird; because we were in an open area, we had lots of passer bys popping by to listen and watch. When we were rehearsing pieces and were taking orders from Susan (our musical director), it was even weirder – we had people taking pictures of us; some even clapped mid way through the songs!

Performances were thankfully held in the evenings (the days were really hot). We played eight sets of songs in 30 minute durations over the next 3 days. It was awesome. We had a good reception, very friendly responses and were stoked to say the least. If all goes according to plan, we’ll be back in Singapore in the near future. Watch this space!

Persepolis

persepolis

Recently, my Mum returned from her girls’ holiday in China. She came back – unsurprisingly – armed with goodies. One of which is this gem of a film called Persepolis, which tells the story of a child growing up in Iran during and after the Revolution.

It is autobiographical and is based on a graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi. The film is presented as an animated film; 2D at its best. I loved it. It was edgy, tragic, bare; I liked how the ending did not have a resolution. And it had none of that Hollywood crap which I so abhor.

I love Muffin.

These days, thanks to the holidays, I’ve been spending a lot of time at home – mainly procrastinating (on the paper I’m meant to write), keeping house, cooking – basically the stuff I’ve missed out on in previous months.

Being at home also means that I get to spend time with Muffin, my lovable attention-seeking dog. She’s a real people-dog and here she is sitting quietly by my foot, watching as I type away.

She’s an excellent companion; most of the time we both do our own thing but a couple of times a day she comes into the study to check on me. At best, she likes putting her paw on my knee to say hi. I find myself talking to her a lot. When I do leave the house to run errands, I actually tell her where I’m going and what time I’ll be back. If it’s a hot day I’ll even leave the fan on for her.

Ah. It’s a dog’s life.
